4th Annual United Nations International Day of Peace Conference

September 21, 2007 – U.S. Federation for Middle East Peace (UFMEP) held a Peace Conference at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas in honor of the UN International Day of Peace. Speakers included Mrs. Salwa Kader, President of UFMEP, Dr. Charles Bankert, vice provost for International Programs at the University of Kansas, and Dr. George Steger, director of the Lawrence D. Starr Global Studies Institute  at the University of Saint Mary. The Conference included prayers by Muslim, Christian and Jewish leaders. UFMEP branches throughout the world including Sweden, Egypt, Malaysia, Pakistan and Hungary also held prayer services for this day to promote peace education and interfaith dialogue.
