International Peace Day 2009

September 21, 2009 -The United Nations' International Day of Peace is held every year on September 21 to promote peace and end conflict. In light of these goals, UFMEP has celebrated Peace Day in the past several years throughout the world with conferences, events and prayer services. For 2009, we held our annual Peace Day Conference in Stockholm, Sweden.


The Role of the Family in Building Social and Economic Security for Humanity

In context of sharing of responsibilities between women and men, including our roles in the care giving of AIDS victims, the focal point of this conference was to discuss "The role of the family in building social and Economic security for humanity".


Religions for Understanding

July 20, 2009- The U.S. Federation for Middle East Peace (UFMEP) invited 30 Imams and Rabbis from 13 European countries to hold an interfaith dialogue. The event, titled "Religions for Understanding,"aimed to promote mutual sharing of religious beliefs among the numerous faiths present at the dialogue.


What is it to Build the Capacity for Peace?

In the words of Mrs. Kader, UFMEP President ,"The international economic, social, cultural and humanitarian issues that we are suffering today due to conflicts that have affected and divided societies in their various internal, national and international levels require the rule of law with the principles of justice. This is the sure way to lead to initiation and process in promoting international cooperation to resolve world disputes."


Muslim, Christian and Jewish Women Who Share the Vision of Understanding

March 12, 2009 - This panel discussion was hosted by USFMEP and the International Council of Jewish Women. President of USFMEP, Mrs. Sally Kader, moderated the dialogue. The panel brought together Muslim, Christian and Jewish women who share the vision of understanding, tolerance and peace. The speakers focused on the commonalities between the religions including the values of coexistence and respect. A world that is free of religious violence must start with a compassionate interchange between people of various faiths where similarities are emphasized and bridges of acceptance are built.


Equipping for Gender Analysis: Australia

February 5, 2009-U.S. Federation for Middle East Peace (UFMEP) President, Sally (Salwa) Kader, attended the National Prayer Breakfast with President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in Washington D.C.

February 13, 2009-U.S. Federation for Middle East Peace (UFMEP) held a conference in Stockholm, Sweden on the "Role of Immigrant Women towards International Peace."

January 23,2009-U.S. Federation for Middle East Peace (UFMEP) held a panel discussion on the "Gaza Humanitarian Crisis" at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City in light of the recent bombings in Gaza.
